Are you a fully qualified HGV Class 2 driver with a valid HIAB license looking for a permanent, hands-on role in street furniture installation and maintenance?

We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious

Street Lighting Operative

to join our team, operating specialised vehicles and plant to deliver essential infrastructure projects across the Midlands and beyond.

Essential Requirements (Mandatory)

To be considered for this specialist role, you

must

possess the following valid certifications:

HGV Class 2 Licence (Required)

HIAB Certificate

(A valid CPCS or NPORS certification is mandatory).

Full Clean UK Driving Licence.

The Role and Key Accountabilities

You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of street lighting and associated highway furniture. This involves operating the HIAB crane for heavy lifting and driving the HGV to transport columns and equipment to site.

Core Duties Include:

Operating the HIAB crane

for the safe removal, repair, and

installation of street lighting furniture

(columns, signs, bollards, lanterns, lamps, and associated equipment).

Driving HGV Class 2 vehicles

to transport equipment and materials to working sites across the operating area.

Civil Works:

Carrying out excavation (by hand and machine), trenching, cable/pipe laying, and re-instatement of verges, pavements, and roads.

Safety & Compliance:

Strict adherence to high health and safety standards when working on or near live highways and high-speed roads with heavy traffic.

Customer Interaction:

Maintaining professionalism, courtesy, and good manners when working in close proximity to the public and client officers.

Physical Work:

Performing general physical tasks, including using a range of hand and mechanical tools and handling heavy materials safely using appropriate manual handling equipment.

Depot Duties:

Undertaking general maintenance and preparation duties at the depot.

Location, Working Details & Salary

Location

Primarily based across the

Midlands

(Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, and Staffordshire). Flexibility for

nationwide work

is required.

Contract Type

Permanent, Full-Time.

Working Hours

Standard Monday - Friday, with

flexibility essential

for

occasional weekends and nights

as operational work requires. Working hours are variable.

Salary

Competitive and will be discussed based on your qualifications, HGV/HIAB experience, and industry knowledge.

Highly Desirable (Non-Mandatory)

Possession of a

New Roads and Street Works (NRASW) Ticket

. Holding a

CSCS or ECS Card

. Specific knowledge or experience in

Street Lighting/Highways Maintenance

Pay: 13.50-14.30 per hour
