About the Role
As a Highway Authority, Leicestershire County Council has a statutory responsibility to manage its highway (network) in an effective manner, to control and reduce congestion and provide a high level of safe and reliable journeys to the road user.
The Network Management Service, within the Council's Highways & Transport Operations division, takes an active role in the implementation of the Council's Local Transport Plan with a primary focus on the Management, Coordination, and Inspection of Temporary Road and Street Works as well as Events which affect the Highway, which is a statutory responsibility for network management.
The Streetworks Compliance Inspector role makes an essential contribution to the delivery of The Council's statutory responsibility under the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 and achieves this by inspecting activities carried out on Leicestershire's Highway Network under the governance of all relevant regulations, statutory guidance, and codes of practice, to ensure compliance and when necessary, take actions and apply penalties to enforce these controls.
The nature of the work may involve you carrying out work outside of normal working hours and at different locations than your designated base.
