Job Title: Stretch Tent Rigger / Installer (Events and Permanent Installations)



Location: Field-based at client sites; travel required



Employment Type: Full-time (seasonal and contract options available)



Reports To: Operations/Project Manager

Role Summary



Install, tension, anchor, and dismantle stretch tents for events and deliver custom, permanent stretch tent installations to engineered specifications. Ensure safety, structural integrity, and high-quality finishes while providing excellent client service on fast-paced event builds and longer-duration permanent projects.

Key Responsibilities



- Pre-Install Planning

- Rig and De Rig Stretch Tents

- Interpret drawings, layouts, and load/ballast plans; take accurate measurements.

- Follow risk assessments, method statements, lifting plans, and weather action plans.

-Follow Load lists

- Coordinate logistics: vehicle loading and off loading, route planning.

Event Rigging (Temporary Installations)



- Load-in/out, inventory checks, and protection of materials and surfaces.

- Lay out tents, position poles/masts, set guying patterns, and install anchors (stakes, screw anchors, ballast).

- Tension and shape canopies to design intent; ensure symmetry, weatherproofing, and safe clearances.

- Integrate accessories: sidewalls, gutters, flooring interfaces, lighting rig points (with relevant teams).

- Monitor weather on-site; implement wind management and emergency plans.

- Dismantle, clean, inspect, dry, and pack equipment; report damage or losses.

Custom Permanent Installations



- Install foundations/anchorage: concrete footings, ground anchors, wall/roof fixings, and base plates to engineered specifications.

- Erect steel/timber posts, brackets, cleats, cable systems, and compression/edge details.

- Tension and commission permanent membranes, integrating flashings, gutters, and building interfaces for long-term weatherproofing.

- Perform and document proof tests/torque checks; ensure compliance with structural and manufacturer standards.

- Prepare handover documentation: as-built photos, maintenance plans, inspection schedules.

Safety and Compliance



- toolbox talks and enforce PPE, fall protection, and exclusion zones.

- Comply with local regulations and company guidelines.

- Operate MEWPs, forklifts, and lifting gear within safe working loads; tag and maintain rigging hardware.

- Maintain clean, orderly, and secure sites.

Quality, Maintenance, and Inventory



- Inspect fabrics, seams, and fixings; perform minor repairs/patching and schedule major repairs.

- Clean, dry, and store tents to prolong service life; prevent mold and UV damage.

- Track tools and materials; minimize damage, rework, and loss.

Client and Team Coordination



- Follow management instructions.

- Work as a team.

- Liaise with clients, venues, and trades; manage on-site changes professionally.

- Lead or support crews (if appointed); train junior riggers in safe and efficient methods.

- Provide clear handovers and reports to project managers.(If appointed)

Qualifications and Experience



- 2+ years in tent/marquees, staging, rigging, tensile structures, or related construction; stretch tent experience preferred, but not essential as training will be given.

-Any construction or Building experience.

- Proven event build experience and at least one full-cycle permanent installation preferred.(Not essential as training will be given.)

- Competent reading drawings/CAD layouts and understanding load paths and tensioned membrane behaviour.(not essential as training will be given.)

- Clean driving license; comfortable towing trailers (not compulsory as long as you can get to our yard).

Technical Skills (not essential as training will be given.)



- Rigging fundamentals: knots, slings, shackles, turnbuckles, ratchet systems, load distribution.

- Anchoring methods: stakes, screw anchors, ballast calculations, chemical/mechanical fixings.

- Tools: impact/rotary hammers, torque wrenches, laser levels, anemometers, stake pullers, MEWPs.

- Basic math for load/ballast/wind action per manufacturer/engineer guidance.

- Fabric care and repair .

- Trailer towing .

Physical and Work Conditions



- Able to lift 25-35 kg frequently (heavier with team/mechanical assist).

- Comfortable working at height, outdoors, and in variable weather; kneeling and overhead work required.

- Variable hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and extended travel during peak seasons.

Key Performance Indicators



- Zero recordable incidents and 100% adherence to safety procedures.

- On-time installations and de-rigs; minimal rework and fabric damage rates.

- Compliance with engineered specs and manufacturer tension/torque standards.

- Positive client feedback and successful final handovers.

- Accurate inventory control and tool management.

Career Path



- Rigger ? Lead Rigger/Crew Chief ? Site Supervisor ? Project/Operations Manager

- Specialist tracks in tensile fabrication, design/CAD, or HSE leadership available.
