Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Structural Engineer to join our client's specialist facade contracting team. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, analysis, and delivery of facade and building envelope systems, ensuring structural performance, safety, and buildability from concept through to installation.

Key Responsibilities

Design and analyse facade-related structural elements, including: Secondary steelwork and facade support systems Brackets, fixings, anchors, and restraint systems Interface details between facade systems and primary structures Assess and calculate structural loads, including wind, dead, live, impact, and imposed loads specific to facade systems Produce detailed structural calculations, drawings, and specifications to support facade design, fabrication, and installation Collaborate closely with architects, main contractors, facade designers, civil/structural engineers, and suppliers to ensure coordinated and compliant solutions Ensure all designs comply with UK Building Regulations, relevant British / Eurocodes, CWCT guidance, and industry best practice Provide technical input during tender, design development, and construction phases Review construction progress and provide site-based technical support, resolving issues related to tolerances, fixings, and interfaces Identify, assess, and resolve structural risks and buildability challenges associated with facade installations Assist with design reviews, value engineering, and alternative design proposals where required

Requirements

Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEng / MEng) or equivalent Chartered or working towards Chartered status (CEng, MICE, IStructE) - desirable Experience working on facade, cladding, or building envelope projects Strong knowledge of structural design and analysis software such as: AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla, Robot Structural Analysis (or similar) Sound understanding of UK Building Regulations, facade-related standards, and interface detailing Practical knowledge of construction methods, tolerances, and on-site coordination Strong problem-solving ability with excellent communication and teamwork skills Ability to manage multiple design packages, meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure
