About the role
We are looking for Structural Examiners to join our Rail & HighwayStructures team based in Stockport. You'll be part of a small, close-knit team contributing to the safety and resilience of the UK's critical infrastructure.
We'd love to hear from you if you have
Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status with ICE, IStructE, or similar (or working towards).
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience in structural inspection, assessment, or asset management of infrastructure assets.
STE4/STE5 competence.
A valid UK driving license and willingness to travel nationally.
Previous experience with bridges, culverts, retaining walls, tunnels, or other major infrastructure assets.
Confidence in mentoring junior staff and providing constructive feedback.
Key responsibilities
Plan and deliver structural examinations in accordance with Network Rail standards and other specifications.
Review inspection, examination, and survey reports to ensure quality and compliance.
Provide engineering recommendations to support asset management decisions.
Conduct QA reviews on reports prior to client submission.
Work across sectors including rail, highwaysand civil buildings.
Support and train engineers and examiners to raise reporting standards and progress STE competencies.
Collaborate with the Engineering Manager to align technical delivery with project goals.
Liaise with contractors to ensure safe access to challenging locations (e.g. working at height, confined spaces).
