Job Overview


We are recruiting Structural Glazier Site Operatives.

Candidates should be a skilled construction professional responsible for the safe and precise installation of heavy-duty and architecturally specific glass systems on commercial and high-end residential buildings. This role goes beyond standard window fitting and requires a high degree of technical skill, attention to detail, and strict adherence to safety protocols.

Key duties and responsibilities



Structural glass installation

: Install specialized glass systems for curtain walls, high-rise building facades, large-format glass panels, balustrades, canopies, atriums, and bespoke architectural features.

Work preparation

: Use technical drawings, plans, and specifications to plan and execute installations. This includes surveying and measuring openings to ensure accurate fitting.

Material handling

: Safely lift and position large, heavy, and fragile glass panels using specialized equipment such as cranes, hoists, and suction cups.

Site coordination

: Work collaboratively with other tradespeople, site managers, and project teams to ensure the installation process is seamless and meets project deadlines.

Safety and quality control

: Comply with all health and safety regulations, company procedures, and industry standards (e.g., CWCT guidelines). This includes conducting risk assessments and ensuring the structural integrity of the installation.

Finishing and sealing

: Apply high-quality sealants and perimeter products to ensure the installation is completely watertight and weatherproof.

Maintenance and repairs

: Perform repairs on existing structural glazing systems as required.

Skills and qualifications



Proven experience

: Demonstrated experience in structural glass or curtain wall installation, ideally within a commercial construction environment.

Technical expertise

: The ability to read and interpret complex architectural drawings, plans, and specifications.

Problem-solving

: Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills to address challenges that arise during the installation process.

Physical fitness

: Good physical stamina, coordination, and balance to work at heights on scaffolding, ladders, or suspended cradles.

Attention to detail

: A methodical approach and a keen eye for detail to ensure high standards of craftsmanship and aesthetics.

Teamwork

: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Licensing and certification

: A valid Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card is often a requirement for working on UK construction sites. A full UK driving license is frequently requested.

Specialized training

: Relevant qualifications such as an NVQ in Glazing or a trade-specific apprenticeship are beneficial. Additional qualifications for operating specific equipment (e.g., IPAF for access platforms) may also be necessary.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 13.00-22.00 per hour
