Element has an opportunity for a

Structural Steelwork Assistant

to join our growing team based at our new testing facility in Warrington. This is a great opportunity to develop your career within a Global Testing, Inspection and Certification business.


Responsibilities:
Achieving and maintaining high standards of health and safety, including contractor inductions Principle responsibilities for Handling and Preparation of Test Specimens Maintaining and managing stock of steel sections on site, including ordering and marking up Verification of incoming steel samples to ensure compliance with Hp / A and section size tolerances Supervise and co-ordinate with Shot-blasting contractor Liaise with fabricating contractors to ensure specimen preparation is timely and prioritized Supervise and co-ordinate with clients when on site Liaising with and assisting the client, including contractors and third parties, during application of paint to test specimens Liaise and assist Technical Assistants Manage paint storage and disposal with designated waste contractor Instrumentation of test specimens and preparation in line with standards Completion of internal systems using FIREMAN and any associated procedures Assisting with preparation of samples

Skills / Qualifications:
Ideally experienced or knowledge of working to Standard Operating Procedures within strict H&S guidelines Practical skills for using tools within a construction / engineering / shop fitting environment, desired but not essential (training will be provided) Interest in materials testing Good communication skills both verbal and written Proactive, logical and methodical Attention to detail Possess a valid FLT license desired but not essential (training will be provided)
