We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Structured Cabling Engineer to join our growing infrastructure team. We have around 10 weeks of work in Milton Keynes working on a warehouse installing around 200 WAPs along with cabling, containment and testing. We urgently require 4 contractors to assist the other engineers currently on site. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of cabling standards (e.g., TIA/EIA), hands-on experience with installation and testing tools, and excellent coordination skills. All candidates must be available from the 14th of July to 30th of September. Must have own tools, IPAF, ECS. Engineers may have the chance in future for more work.
Key Responsibilities
Cabling Installation
Install and pull Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic cables in ceilings, walls, floors, conduit, and cable trays.
Terminate copper cables to patch panels, wall jacks, keystone modules, and network switches.
Label all cables, ports, and components clearly and accurately according to site documentation.
Testing & Certification
Test installed copper cables using Fluke testers or equivalent (continuity, wiremap, length, NEXT, return loss).
Document all test results and ensure cabling meets TIA/EIA standards and customer requirements.
Hardware Installation
Mount and secure telecommunications racks, patch panels, and cable management hardware in telecom rooms (IDFs/MDFs).
Install containment such as cable tray and conduit.
Install WAPs
Site Support & Maintenance
Identify and resolve cabling issues such as faulty terminations, damaged cable, or improper labeling.
Safety & Compliance
Follow all safety protocols including proper use of PPE, ladder safety, lift operation
Maintain clean and organized work areas during and after installations.
Qualifications
Experience
2-5 years of experience in structured cabling installation (voice/data/fiber).
Experience working on commercial or enterprise sites (offices, schools, hospitals, data centers, etc.).
Familiar with construction environments and job site protocols.
Skills
Ability to read and follow floor plans, blueprints, and network diagrams.
Strong cable dressing, termination, and labeling skills.
Proficient with cable testers, hand tools, and power tools used in the trade.
Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, or in ceilings and crawl spaces.
Certifications (Preferred)
CNCI or equivalent qualification
ECS or CSCS card (required)
IPAF (required)
UK Full Driving License(required)
