THE ROLE
The Banking team is a centre of expertise for capital markets and debt financing activities in the small business lending markets. It originates, structures and manages cash and risk transfer transactions of SME loan and asset finance portfolios, managing billions of pounds of public funds to drive economic growth across the UK.
The team works with lenders such as banks and non-bank financial institutions and seeks to address the funding, security and capital constraints these entities may face that prevent them from increasing their credit activity in the small business sector, in turn improving access to and supply of finance to smaller businesses and reducing market gaps.
In this position you will support the execution of the Banking team's suite of products, gaining exposure to securitisations, structured finance and other, similar, capital market instruments. This includes assisting in the structuring, financial modelling, approval requests and drafting of legal documentation for each new transaction.
You will have the opportunity to gain extensive exposure to all facets of a transaction and assume substantial responsibility early on. This role will enable the successful applicant to gain a strong grounding in debt capital market transactions through a rotational programme, providing experience in multiple product teams.
Educated to degree level or above, (or with equivalent work experience), in a quantitative field, such as Mathematics, Economics, Physics, Chemistry, or Engineering, preferably (or predicted to be) at a minimum of 2:1, you will ideally have some experience of working in a financial institution, and be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of VBA.
You should also be able to demonstrate an interest in the SME finance marketplace, and a willingness to obtain a relevant professional qualification such as CFA.
During your initial induction period you will be required to attend the office a minimum of 3 days per week to benefit personally and professionally from being present in a collaborative working environment.
The starting date for this opportunity will be September 2026
