Term Time Contracts
This contract offers full-time hours across 37 weeks of the year, primarily during term time. You will be required to work during the academic terms, with some additional duties outside of term time as needed. This structure provides a balance between a full-time role and flexibility during non-term periods.
The Opportunity
You will play an important role in supporting our learners to overcome barriers and improve their attendance at college. You will take a proactive approach to re-engagement, working closely with young people who may present with a range of complex and challenging behaviours. Through persistence, patience and effective relationship-building, you will encourage our learners to attend regularly and make positive progress in their studies.
You will be responsible for monitoring attendance closely, marking and tracking registers to safeguard our learners and ensure accurate reporting. By working collaboratively with personal tutors, pastoral staff, external agencies and families, you will identify barriers to attendance and put effective strategies in place to address them. Your ability to communicate confidently and adopt a solution-focused approach will be key in helping our learners and their families understand the importance of consistent attendance.
This role is based within the 14-16 Direct Entry department, which offers an Alternative Provision for school-age learners referred to our college from schools and the local authority. You will contribute to creating a supportive and motivating environment where our learners can access a more bespoke, practical and personalised curriculum. In doing so, you will play a direct part in helping students achieve their learning goals and raise their aspirations.

About You
For this role, you will need to be committed, approachable and able to build strong relationships with young people and their families. You should bring experience of, or a genuine desire to work with, students and young people, with the ability to understand and respond to the barriers they may face when accessing education.
You will be highly organised, able to plan and prioritise your workload effectively, and confident in keeping accurate records and producing high-quality written information. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will need to liaise effectively with teachers, colleagues and external agencies, while also engaging learners and parents in a supportive and constructive way.
The role calls for someone who can use their initiative to meet the needs of learners and the department, adapting to challenges as they arise. You should be confident in dealing with complex needs and demonstrate resilience, patience and a positive outlook. A flexible approach to working is also key, as you will often need to respond to the changing circumstances of learners and the demands of the department.

Required
5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English at grade C/4 or above
