This is an exciting time to join the Student Counselling and Mental Health Advice Service at Imperial College! We have been investing heavily in our Service to better support our students through university life. We have grown from a small team to a diverse and multifaceted group of over thirty-five professionals striving to deliver the best experience possible for our students.
We are now recruiting for three new posts within the Student Counselling and Mental Health Advice Service, to provide a
Single Point of Access referral pathway
to support students in easily accessing mental health and counselling services at Imperial. You will work as part of a small integrated team triaging referrals in a timely manner, including assessing risk, suitability for the service, and signposting and referring as appropriate. You will also carry a client case load providing assessment and intervention within the Counselling, Mental Health Advice or Mental Health Intervention teams as appropriate.
What you would be doing

Respond to, coordinate, manage and monitor crisis situations involving students, assessing risks to themselves or others, signpost and refer to other support services within the university and external agencies
Make an initial assessment as to suitability for brief counselling, mental health advice, mental health intervention and/or mental health study mentoring as appropriate
Support academic and non-academic staff in their pastoral role with students and offer guidance and advice to staff working with students with mental health difficulties
Offer assessment and intervention to individual students as a student counsellor, mental health advisor or mental health intervention officer
What we are looking for

A qualified and experienced Counsellor or Psychotherapist, Psychologist, Mental Health Nurse or Social Worker with full accreditation
Competence in working with clients in crisis, with advanced assessment skills
Experienced in providing advice and support to those with acute and enduring mental health difficulties, and the academic and professional community around them
A flexible and collaborative clinician with a student-centred approach
