Job Purpose:



To work with individuals and groups delivering specified work under the direction and supervision of the Education leaders. The individual will support student engagement onsite onsite while assisting with the provision of specialist learning support for students. The post holder will also support with planning, organising and undertaking other related duties to fully support and underpin behaviour support, learning, personal and social development across the school.

Responsibilities/Accountabilities Include:



Supporting the Pastoral Lead and other School staff to carry out the following activities.



Provide learning activities for individuals and groups of pupils under the professional direction and supervision of the Pastoral Lead, SENCO, Nurture Lead and Cultivate Lead differentiating and adapting learning programmes to suit the needs of allocated pupils. Provide individual and group intervention to enable young people to regulate behaviour. Monitor and record pupil responses and learning achievements, drawing any problems which cannot be resolved to the attention of the School leadership,SENCO and the class teacher. With support select and adapt appropriate resources/methods to facilitate agreed learning activities. Support pupils in social and emotional wellbeing across the school Establish and maintain relationships with families, carers and other adults, e.g. outside agencies where appropriate. Escort and supervise learners on educational and out of school activities. Guide and support pupils in their personal, emotional and social development. Prepare and present displays in the education environment. Supervise individuals and groups of pupils throughout the day, including supervision in the classroom, playground and dining areas. Be involved in planning, organising and implementing individual development plans for pupils (such as individual educational plans) including attendance at, and contribution to reviews. Work with pupils not working to the normal timetable and support delivery of a range of interventions tailored to their needs To be familiar with the school ethos of Nurture and to be able to use de-escalation strategies effectively. To lead and maintain positive and enjoyable break times for pupils including organising and participating in physical games and activities alongside others. To safeguard children and vulnerable adults from harm and to report concerns in accordance with LS-TEN's safeguarding policies and procedures. To foster good relationships and advance equality of opportunity between different groups and eliminate discrimination, harassment and victimisation.

Expectations:



Experience working or volunteering with young people. Good IT skills Strong team player. Ability to produce reports. Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations. A non-judgemental and positive mindset. A focus on personal professional development.

The Student Support Apprentice will be contracted to 35 - 37.5 hrs a week, 45.6 - 47.6 weeks a years (equivalent to 30+ hrs a week, FT).
