Job Description

Due to the growth of our thriving small animal, first opinion RCVS General Practice accredited practice we are currently recruiting a Student Veterinary Nurse to join our dedicated and enthusiastic team which operates a high standard of nursing care.

We have excellent facilities and also benefit from being situated next to the referral hospital, ensuring excellent access for our clients. The First opinion and referral services collaborate as a team for complete patient support, ensuring the highest standard of patient care.

The post is to support the smooth operation of the clinical activities within the LVP whilst undergoing the relevant training to become a qualified veterinary nurse. Duties will include maintaining practice clinical environment, facilitating smooth running of the practice, inpatient care, anaesthesia, radiography, laboratory work, nursing clinics and pharmacy/reception duties under the supervision of an RVN or veterinary surgeon.

37.5 hours a week including day release to college, with up to 1 in 3 weekends (currently 1 in 5 Saturdays)

Experience and Qualifications



Our ideal applicant will be reliable with a willingness to learn and to be able to work within a team. Previous experience in a veterinary environment is essential.

Five GCSEs at grade C and above or level 9 - 4, which must include English language, maths and a science subject.
OR

An animal nursing assistant (ANA) or veterinary care assistant (VCA) qualification, along with functional skills level two in application of number and communication. Proactive and consistent in your work Good communication is essential Computer literacy Able to work well in a team Punctuality and time management skills Have an understanding of the emotional/physical demands of the job Demonstrate initiative in patient welfare
A driving license is desirable.

The salary for this position will be in line with the National Apprenticeship scheme 8 per hour for the first year and National Living Wage 10.85 to 12.71 for the second year (depending on age).
