About the Role



We are seeking a proactive, student-focused Welfare Coordinator to join the Student Welfare Team at The Henley College. In this key pastoral role, you will support the development of a positive attendance culture by working directly with students to promote engagement and ensure their behaviour upholds the College HEART expectations.

You will play an important part in the student disciplinary process related to attendance, acting as a consistent presence on campus and providing early intervention and structured support. By fostering positive relationships and helping students understand the impact of attendance on their academic success, you will help ensure that every learner can thrive. This role requires a trauma-informed and solution-focused approach to effectively support students.

We prioritise creating an emotionally safe environment for all students, ensuring they feel valued and supported. Our work is deeply embedded with the principles of Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) 2025, ensuring that safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children are at the HEART of everything we do. This role is ideal for someone committed to student advocacy with excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to support and challenge in equal measure.

What We're Looking For



We are seeking a confident and compassionate individual with the ability to engage effectively with young people and support them in overcoming barriers to attendance. The ideal candidate will have:

The ability to work constructively with students to support positive behaviours Confidence in managing or contributing to disciplinary procedures relating to attendance Strong administrative and organisational skills, with attention to detail The ability to work flexibly and as part of a team within a busy college environment A professional and approachable communication style,with students, staff and parents/carers A willingness to use online systems to record student interactions and attendance-related activity A trauma-informed and solution-focused mindset to support students effectively

Location: Henley-on-Thames

Salary: 29,889.00 pro rated to 27,145.94 pa

Contract Type: Permanent, 37 hours a week, 41 weeks a year
