This is a brilliant opportunity for experienced Assistant Producers looking to work on the One Show,
The talent pool serves as a database of APs that have the necessary skills and experience to work with us and forms a group of candidates that we will consider as a priority should a short-term (non-permanent) researcher position become vacant.
PLEASE NOTE: The BBC Studios One Show studio AP pool is an opportunity for candidates to express their interest in working for The One Show in London. If accepted into the pool it is not a guarantee of a job role and successful applicants will not necessarily end up working for BBC Studios.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Studio APs gather relevant information regarding the guests and contributors for the programme and deliver precise and accurate briefs to the producer. They generate ideas for innovative live content and are responsible for sourcing, clearing, edit producing and delivering additional material (e.g. floats, stills, Archive clips and Music). They will be required to take responsibility for a whole programme or sections within a programme.
Assistant Producers on the One Show studio team work within a rotating day team of producer, assistant producer and researcher, who generate all studio / OB content for the programme.
The role includes involvement at every stage of the production process including research and pre-production; location or studio filming; and post production.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT

• Working effectively to ensure all content is thoroughly researched, meets the BBC's editorial standards and is fact checked using a variety of sources
• Researching, setting up and producing live studio recording, including generating ideas for studio, OB and topical VTs. To conduct research on people and places in advance of filming and, where appropriate, negotiate access to locations and organisations
• To script material effectively
• To prepare effectively for edits and, where necessary, offline edit creatively and efficiently in the available time and within the allotted budget
• To communicate effectively with contributors, the production team and the Editor to ensure that all are kept fully informed of developments and requirements at every stage of production. To demonstrate judgement on appropriate referral to more experienced members of the production team where necessary
• To write, film and edit material for multiplatform, the BBC Press Office, supporting publications etc, where appropriate
• To source and clear material for broadcasting and publishing
• To organise and prioritise tasks both in terms of finding stories and dealing with research materials
• To manage the workload of the researcher, runner and work experience team members, or equivalent

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Experience of daily live studio shows e.g It Takes Two, This Morning
• Used to working in a fast-paced, topical working environment
• Excellent at managing edits
• An understanding of archive/various copyright material rights
• Strong editorial background with creative ideas
• Good at briefing high profile talent and contributors
• A track record of getting ideas for innovative, journalistic and creative studio content and programme ideas commissioned
• A passion for factual and Entertainment studio programmes and an in depth understanding of the One Show audience and editorial brief
• An understanding and interest in popular culture and news.
• Experience of producing segments of live television and the ability to generate and react to changing content whilst live on air
• Extensive experience of preparing contributor briefs, including the ability to draw out new anecdotes and exclusive content
• Excellent script-writing skills with experience of creating imaginative treatments
• Experience of cutting VT inserts or complete films to tight deadlines
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team
• Ability to persuade and influence others
• Planning, organizing and time management skills
• Ability to work under pressure of tight deadlines and changing priorities
• The ability to maintain a creative, problem-solving approach in fast changing and challenging situations
• Understanding of budgets and managing costs effectively
• Knowledge of editorial guidelines and awareness of BBC and statutory policies and regulations relevant to programme-making, familiarity with the BBC employment practices and policies such as diversity, equal opportunities, and health and safety guidelines
