Beacon Support Ltd. are recruiting for a reliable Study Assistant to work with disabled people. This role involves the provision of support to people with disabilities.
As a Study Assistant, you will support the disabled student with study related tasks.

Main responsibilities
The precise nature of the assistance and support will depend on the specific impairment barriers faced by the person. You will be given specific instruction on what is required.
You will be expected to have the skills and competence to work effectively, at the direction of the student. These can include, but are not limited to the list below.
Responsibilities:
Maintaining a professional role as a Study Assistantat all times, including maintaining confidentiality
Taking notes in lectures - please request our note taking guidance if you are asked to produce notes.
Reading assistance
Library assistance - e.g. locating research, physically or remotely navigating the library, photocopying, ordering/reserving/collecting material.
Time management and organisation
Joining up with other support, such as mentor, study skills tutor.
Motivation
Communication
Signposting Acting in the best interests of learners at all times
Ensuring that any concerns are addressed in a timely manner
Requirements:
Educated to, or studying towards (2nd year onwards), a degree level qualification
Experience in studying or working in a Higher or Further Education setting
Other skills:
Ability to work quickly and under time restrictions
Excellent IT skills
An excellent standard of English, including accurate spelling and grammar skills
Punctuality and reliability, with good organisational skills
Ability to work flexibly and autonomously
Other responsibilities:
To be punctual and reliable
To provide support that addresses the individual needs of the person
To observe boundaries and maintain a professional role
To maintain confidentiality
To act in their best interests at all times
To ensure that any concerns are addressed in a timely manner and are referred to the Team Leader
To manage paper work effectively, including accurate time sheets, and promptly submitting them at the end of each month
Qualifications/skills required:
Demonstrative English and IT competency, preferably with nationally recognised achievements such as GCSEs.
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Disability awareness
Excellent interpersonal skills, diplomacy and empathy for others.
Ability to work autonomously and use initiative.
If the support activity includes supporting wheelchair users, you will be provided with specific health and safety training relevant to the physical demands of the activity.
