We are currently recruiting for an motivated
Study Coach
to join our student support team at our Witney Campus. You will provide targeted 1-to-1 and small group support to students across a range of abilities and subjects, including English, Maths, and core study skills. Your role will help students overcome barriers to learning and realise their full academic potential. Support will be delivered face-to-face and online, working with learners from Entry Level up to Level 6.
Responsibilities
Provide tailored 1-to-1 or small group academic support for students in English, Maths, and general study skills.
Assist students with assignments across all subject areas, offering guidance on planning, research, writing, and referencing.
Deliver personalised support for GCSE and Functional Skills English and Maths (Entry Level to Level 2), including support for learners with specific learning difficulties (e.g. dyslexia, dyscalculia, maths anxiety).
Conduct dyslexia screenings, review outcomes, recommend interventions, and refer for further assessments if required.
Promote student confidence and motivation through personalised learning strategies.
Design and deliver study skills sessions focusing on areas such as time management, exam preparation, and academic research.
Maintain accurate records of all student interventions and progress using college systems.
Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SEND teams, Student Performance Managers, and other internal services.
Ensure safeguarding, quality standards, and equality and diversity principles are upheld at all times.
Essential Criteria
Experience of delivering 1-to-1 and group academic support, particularly in English and Maths.
Understanding of learning support needs for students with SpLDs such as dyslexia or dyscalculia.
Ability to assess learning needs and adapt support strategies accordingly.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a learner-centred approach.
Confident in supporting students at different academic levels, including Entry Level through to Level 6.
Proficient in using technology to support learning both in person and online.
Strong organisational skills and ability to maintain accurate records.
Desirable Criteria
Qualification or training in learning support or SEND.
Experience conducting dyslexia screenings and referring for access arrangements.
Familiarity with college systems used to record student progress and safeguarding information.
Knowledge of Functional Skills and GCSE curriculum.
Experience supporting students with maths anxiety or low confidence in academic settings.
