A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Lecturer in land-based studies with specialist knowledge in agriculture (particularly livestock) and ideally animal care, who will also take on SPL responsibilities for agriculture and animal care at L2/L3. This role is perfect for someone passionate about shaping the next generation of land-based professionals and contributing to an exceptional learning experience.

At Abingdon & Witney College, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality teaching, guiding learners through their programmes, and ensuring their progress, development and success.

Key Responsibilities



Deliver engaging, high-quality teaching and support across agriculture and animal care. Lead on planning, coordinating and reviewing course delivery, timetables and induction. Manage learner profiles, academic progress, assessments and IV processes. Maintain accurate course data, Markbook updates and student records. Conduct student performance management meetings, 1:1s, progress reviews and tutorials. Support and help coordinate work experience and industry placements. Attend advisory board meetings and maintain strong employer and community links. Contribute to EHCP reviews, safeguarding responsibilities and risk assessments. Provide clear information, advice and guidance to prospective learners during recruitment. Uphold college policies, promote safeguarding, and help create a positive, inclusive learning environment.

Essential Criteria



Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject. Qualified Teacher status (or willingness to work towards it). Genuine passion for agriculture and/or animal care. Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection. Level 2 literacy and numeracy (or willingness to achieve). Experience teaching within the subject area and evidence of excellent teaching skills. Strong organisational and administrative abilities. Ability to support diverse groups of learners and provide effective pastoral guidance. Commitment to learner success and continuous improvement.

Desirable Criteria



BTEC Lead Internal Verifier qualification. Level 2 IT qualification (or willingness to achieve). Experience teaching in a post-16 setting. Strong employer links within agriculture and animal care
