The Opportunity:
The Edinburgh College of Art (ECA), part of the University of Edinburgh, is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented
Subject Area Administrator
to join our department. This full-time, 12-month fixed term position plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of the
School of Design
Subject Area by providing high-level administrative support, including HR, finance, event coordination, and research seminar management.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide proactive administrative support to the Head of Subject Area in managing academic staff workloads and financial resource planning.
Assist with the coordination of research seminars, field trips, and student conferences.
Handle financial tasks such as budget monitoring, processing payments, and managing staff requisitions.
Liaise with HR on recruitment processes, contract renewals, and compliance checks.
Serve as a welcoming point of contact for staff and students, addressing queries and ensuring a positive work environment.
Your skills and attributes for success:
Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to handle competing demands.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building effective relationships across the School and University.
A high degree of initiative and independence in managing tasks, combined with the ability to work closely with academic colleagues.
Proven experience in administrative roles.
A customer-focused attitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a welcoming and efficient environment.
A team player.
