We have an exciting opportunity for a Manager to work in the SUBWAY department within our SPAR & Shell Forecourt in Birchwood Lincoln who enjoys having fun working as part of a small team. We are looking for someone who is motivated, friendly, hands-on. Reporting directly to the Store Manager, as a Manager in our Subway, you will display exceptional customer service, greeting and interacting with our customers in helpful and friendly manner, creating a pleasant experience while completing orders.

This role is for 40 hours a week, you will need to work a mix of mornings (5.30am starts), Mid's, and late's (8pm Finishes) including weekends on a rota basis. Will be required to work extra shifts when needed.

Reporting to the Store Manager the Subway Manager will be helping to drive growth within the unit. As a member of the 'Duty Manager' team effective through all operational hours of the unit, you will be responsible for supporting the Store Manager in leading and motivating a team of colleagues. You will be a member of the Store Manager's leadership team ensuring excellent customer service, contributing to achieving store sales and profitability through 'Brilliant Basics, Moments of Wow and Food For Now'.

Hickson's is a family business operating three stores in Lincoln and North Hykeham. Beginning as a butchers in 1903 we have grown into three fast paced SPAR convenience stores offering everything from newspapers & groceries to fuel and have two Subway's in stores.

Key Responsibilities:



Demonstrate a complete understanding of menu items and explain options to customers accurately. Preparing of all sandwich ingredients, to include baking of cookies/bread and washing, cutting, slicing, chopping and grating of ingredients, in accordance with established guidelines. Neatly prepare sandwiches according to customer orders. Re-stock sandwich ingredients to ensure a sufficient supply throughout the shift. Supporting the Store Manager to ensure a safe, legal and high performing store, whilst taking overall responsibility for the entire unit. Understand and adhered to all Subway and company operating processes, policies and procedures. Adhere to all food handling, safety, and sanitation standards when storing/preparing/serving food and cleaning the department. Assisting the Store Manager to deliver all store operations, objectives and KPI's, Stock management. Maintaining and improving financial performance targets. Management of promotional activities and Epos systems, Menu changes Managing, coaching and supporting colleagues, assisting in developing a motivated and empowered team through a positive, engaging management style Carrying out performance management/absence management as appropriate Responsible for opening/closing of the Department, colleague safety and stock/cash security/accountability as appropriate. Carrying out cash reconciliation's, voids and refunds and other 'management' tasks for colleagues Being a role model and leading the team to work together to provide an exceptional customer experience, setting us apart from our competitors Management of Training within the department Working with colleagues to promote the store by identifying and actioning opportunities to engage with and support the local community Overseeing, Supporting and working within the FTG department along side Subway and in Store when needed.

Manager Skills Required:



Previous management or supervisor experience within a catering, food retail or similar fast-paced operation Understanding of health and food safety legislative responsibilities in a food environment Committed to achieving and sustaining exceptional customer service standards Able to plan, organise and prioritise effectively Ability to communicate and influence at all levels Able to take appropriate action and make decisions Committed to promoting collaborative working Enthusiastic and flexible with a positive attitude Committed to developing own skills and apply learning to improve own performance+ Keen and enthusiastic approach to working both in a team and independently
