Job Description

We are recruiting a Medical Director to join our team at Sulis on a part time contract. The Sulis Medical Director (MD) plays a pivotal role in Sulis Hospital's leadership team, supporting the delivery of Sulis Hospital's strategic goals by providing leadership on the Clinical Strategy and all medical workforce issues, focusing on professional assurance, quality, clinical effectiveness and outcomes, leadership development, workforce planning and productivity. These will be used to align and engage medical staff in delivering efficient, high quality, safe and compassionate care to patients in all services.


The role will also link closely across Bath, Swindon & Wiltshire Integrated Care Alliance (BSW ICA), BSW Group of Trusts (RUH, SFT and GWH), Sulis Orthopaedic Centre (SOC) and Sulis Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) to take forward the clinical strategy for the system.


The Sulis Medical Director will also support the RUH Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to improve medical staff engagement across the sites, alignment of best practice, as well as input into the creation of medical leadership development programmes.


Person Specification:

Unblemished registration with GMC or other equivalent professional body A medical practitioner Post graduate medical qualifications Evidence of continued professional development Qualification in management, leadership, quality improvement Substantial clinical experience at consultant level Strong reputation as a clinician and clinical leader, with a proven track record of producing high quality results in the management and leadership of clinical services Experience of job planning, medical appraisal, and the management of performance concerns Active as a medical appraiser Experience as Case Investigator or Case Manager A thorough grasp of the NHS, Independent Sector, local and national health care strategies with demonstrated leadership at a senior level.

Part time hours 22.5 hours
