Summer 2026 Residential Activity Leader

Oxford, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

The position of Activity Leader (AL) is a fun and rewarding role where you plan and deliver the exciting social programme that Bucksmore summer schools offer to students. Whilst learning takes place in the classrooms, the activity programme provides another environment for using and practicing the English language. Enthusiastic and fun Activity Leaders are a key part to the success of a summer academic programme and to ensuring the enjoyment of our students, as well as heir safety, engaging in workshops, masterclasses, debate society and excursions .

Our students will spend 2 weeks learning their chosen subject so applicants must have a background or interest in either Psychology, Medicine, Computer Science, Business, Politics, Architecture or Business.

Up to 625 per week including holiday pay depending on experience with Accommodation and meals provided.

We have vacancies at the prestigious St Hilda's College Oxford , d'Overborecks College and London.

Background: Students attending a Bucksmore summer programme receive a combination of English language or subject specific tuition combined with a comprehensive activity programme which includes two full-day excursions and up to one half day trip every week. There are activities during the afternoon and evening with the excursions and trips spread throughout the week on designated days. Bucksmore students are mostly individual students as opposed to large, single nationality groups.

Pastoral Care: The Centre Manager is the Safeguarding Lead at the centre, however the Activity Leaders must adhere to the welfare policy at all times, and will be required to adhere to Bucksmore's Child Protection Policy. Due to the nature of a residential summer camp, an Activity Leader will be aware that their role is not limited to just running activities, but that students require 24/7 pastoral care, discipline if and when required, and supervision at bed-time and wake-ups.

Activity Leader Commitment: The AL role is a fun and enjoyable role. To get the most out of this role, you should be ensuring that all students are having the best time, whether this is through sporting activities or quieter arts and craft sessions. The students happiness should always be at the centre of what an AL does.

The Working Week: At least 48 hours per week. All residential staff will be asked to 'opt out' of the 48-hour working time directive. The job demands a high degree of flexibility and will involve evening and weekend work. Staff will have one full day off per week.

Pay: Up to 625.00 per week
