Summer Placement - Offshore Wind



The Opportunity:




Kick start your career with a

Summer Internship or Industry Placement

in Tetra Tech RPS Energy with a potential

start date between April - July 2026

. Our Marine Consenting and Environment (MC&E) team is on the lookout for two students to join us for 8 - 12 weeks. We operate a hybrid working arrangement, with office locations in

Chepstow or Edinburgh

(Woking or London could be considered) with a minimum of

3 days in the office per week

.


While this is not a salaried role,

we will cover all expenses during your time with us.

This will include travel, accommodation and a subsistence allowance.

We are at the forefront of the industry - delivering offshore infrastructure projects in complex marine environments including offshore wind farm developments. Our experience includes 20 years working across the UK, wider Europe, Americas, Australia and Asia. You'll become a member of a deeply experienced marine team who have been selected as the lead Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Habitats Regulations Assessments (HRA) consultant for some of the industry's major "firsts". These include the world's largest offshore wind farms at the point of being constructed: Orsted's Hornsea One, Two and Three, and Scotland's largest offshore wind farm SSE's Berwick Bank.

A bit about your role:




During your 8 - 12 week placement, you will select a research project relevant to our work, create a proposal, report and then present this back to the business at the end of your placement. Some examples of these type of projects are listed below.


You will run this as one of our marine projects would be run, learning how to budget, programme and define a scope of works with the support of our experienced staff in the team. You will sit on team meetings to get experience of working in consultancy, get exposure to our varied project portfolio and start to understand how a marine business works. This could be a great role for someone who has an industry placement as part of their Bachelor's or Master's degree or someone who wants to gain some work experience before entering into a graduate role.

This is for someone in their final year of their bachelor or masters degree.

By the end of your placement, you should be able to make a more informed decision about your career path.


What do you need?




To be in your final year of a Bachelors or Masters degrees in a relevant marine discipline.

E.g. marine geography, marine biology, marine environmental, environmental consultancy, oceanography, marine science, marine fisheries, marine archaeology, international marine consultancy, marine zoology, or a strong interest/educational background in the marine environment.


Enthusiasm and curiosity to apply your skills to solve real-world problems. Empathy and listening skills to help you truly understand our clients' requirements. You must have a permanent right to work in the UK. You must be available for at least 8 weeks starting at some point from April - July 2026.

Increasing capacity within OWF boundaries and what does this mean for impact assessments and approach to consenting Assessing the impacts of vessel noise (and collision risk) on marine mammals: exploring methods to quantify the effects spatially and temporally. New way of carrying out the environmental assessments: Environmental Outcomes Report and how does it compare to the Environmental Impact Assessment as we know it.
