to support the delivery of our Summer Playscheme across multiple community venues. This is a hands-on, varied role combining administrative coordination with direct playwork, ensuring the smooth, safe, and engaging operation of our inclusive summer sessions for children and young people.
You will be responsible for overseeing all logistical aspects of the playscheme, including staff coordination, resource management, record keeping, and acting as a safeguarding and first aid point of contact on site.
Key Responsibilities:
Administrative Duties:
Maintain GDPR-compliant records of participants, including emergency contacts and medical needs.
Coordinate staffing schedules and communicate with team members and venues.
Ensure all required forms, safeguarding paperwork, and attendance records are completed and stored appropriately.
Record expenses and process invoices in line with organisational procedures.
Support compliance with funder requirements and internal policies.
Operational Duties:
Act as a senior team member on site, supporting set-up, delivery, and pack-down of each session.
Carry out risk assessments and daily health & safety checks.
Check and restock play equipment and resources.
Drive the van and assist with loading/unloading kit (a full, clean driving licence is essential).
Handle and serve food safely at sessions; ensure food hygiene standards are met.
Be a key safeguarding contact and first aider at sessions (training provided if necessary).
Support children's play in line with freely chosen play and inclusion principles.
Essential Requirements:
Must be available for the full contract period (14th July to end of August).
Experience working in playwork, childcare, or youth work settings.
Proven administration experience and excellent organisational skills.
Full driving licence and ability to drive a van.
Ability to work independently and take initiative across multiple venues.
Team player, reliable, and confident overseeing delivery in the absence of a manager.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Required Training / Qualifications:
Playwork or childcare qualification (or substantial experience in a relevant role).
Enhanced DBS (or willing to undergo check).
Food hygiene certificate (or willing to complete training).
GDPR awareness (or willing to complete training).
Safeguarding training (provided if necessary).
First aid qualification (training can be provided).
