About the role


------------------


Summer Presessional Tutors will deliver the 6-week summer Presessional course to prospective Imperial postgraduate students. The course is uniquely STEMM focused as it uses in-house materials designed to engage students with Imperial research and Imperial researchers as they acquire competence and confidence in academic STEMM communication.


What you would be doing


---------------------------


You will manage two small groups of students (approximately 12-14 students per class) and provide targeted classroom input and feedback to scaffold and monitor students' development of the discourse and competencies they need to succeed on their chosen degree programme. You will deliver the course on campus but in a paperless bring-your-own-device (BYOD) format with all resources and materials provided online via Microsoft 365 apps and Canvas.


What we are looking for

We are looking to to appoint a number of experienced, adaptable and well-qualified full-time EAP tutors with:


A first degree, and a completed DELTA (or equivalent) and/or a completed postgraduate degree in Applied Linguistics/TESOL/EAP or other relevant area. Proven classroom teaching skills with experience of teaching an existing course syllabus, and assessing EAP students at a range of levels in higher education contexts or similar in the UK or abroad Ability and willingness to engage with complex material from a range of STEMM disciplines Ability to work as part of a team to share ideas and practice and work independently as appropriate Positive and professional attitude towards, and communication with, colleagues and students Awareness of, and sensitivity to, diversity in the workplace

The course runs from Monday 10 August to Friday 18 September 2026 incl. with 3 days' tutor induction from Wednesday 5 August to Friday 7 August 2026.



N.B. Applicants must be available for the entire duration of the course, including induction.
