Hours: 7.5 hours per week, worked on Sundays

• The 7.5 hours will be worked over one day each week, including Sundays and occasional Bank Holidays
• Flexibility to work across both of our retail sites is essential
• This role includes Key Holder responsibilities

As a Retail Sales Assistant, you'll support the Retail Manager and wider team in the day-to-day running of both our Matlock 1 and Matlock Clearance shops. Your responsibilities will include overseeing staff, managing stock, preparing and merchandising products, and supporting the recruitment, training, and development of volunteers.
Key responsibilities:

• To ensure that the high standard of service to customers that is expected by the Ashgate Hospice shops is always maintained.
• To actively support, any fundraising promotions as directed by Ashgate Hospice or your Manager
• To implement any promotion in the shop as directed
• To support the training, development and motivation of a team of staff and volunteers

What you'll bring:
Here's what we're looking for:

• A team player who will play a key role in supporting the retail team at our Matlock shop, helping to maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for customers
• Someone with excellent customer service skills and the confidence to handle a variety of customer needs and situations with professionalism and care
• The ability to multitask effectively, managing competing priorities while working towards sales and operational targets
• Experience in cash handling and familiarity with banking procedures

Ashgate Hospice, based in North Derbyshire, offers free palliative and end of life care for adults with life-limiting or incurable illnesses, including cancer, neurological diseases, and advanced heart, kidney, and lung conditions. Last year, we cared for over 2,400 people. Our aim is to support our patients by keeping them informed, managing their symptoms, and improving their quality of life from diagnosis onwards.
