Multiple roles available



Hours available between 08:30am - 07:00pm Monday - Sunday. Will include working at least one weekend day.

The Role



We are currently looking for Superstore Assistants to join our Retail, Services and Operations team to launch and manage our new Superstore in York.

As a Superstore Assistant, you will support the management team and work alongside volunteers, playing an active part in running the department which you are based in. This includes stock management, merchandising,?operating?the till and providing excellent customer service.

Reporting to the?Superstore?Team Leaders, the?Retail Assistants?actively support?in:

Raising?funds to invest in achieving the charity's strategic goals. The charity is a leading funder of cancer research in the region and has?a track record?of supporting ground-breaking projects and clinical trials to help prevent cancer and increase survival. Portraying?the charity as a professional, credible brand which acts with integrity. Providing excellent customer service, ensuring volunteers and customers know how their contribution is helping the people of Yorkshire.
Specifically, you will:

Play an active part in running?one of the departments of?our?Superstore?in?York, supporting the?management team?in implementing processes and ways of working. Adhere to and administer all?processes?and practices?of?retail?through active stock management, replenishment, and rotation. Support the?management team?to ensure the?superstore?is presented to the highest standards and kept clean and tidy,?including display and merchandising, stock management and generation,?maintaining?shop standards, layout of store. Provide the highest levels of customer service to our customers and visitors to the?shop?and support our volunteers to do the same. Work alongside a team of well-trained volunteers positively and collaboratively. Ensure that all charity policies, retail standards, and operating procedures are adhered to by all volunteers and are maintained and followed consistently. This includes Gift Aid, GDPR, Cyber Security, Health and Safety and Trading Standards. Support the?superstore management team?to ensure?accurate?handling of?stock. Operate the EPOS system?in accordance with?charity policy to ensure accounting and stock control are correct. Prepare and complete?retail?administration in the absence?of?the management team,?always adhering to?charity policy and procedures. Train and work alongside a?team of volunteers to deliver an outstanding customer experience. Create a welcoming professional atmosphere and deliver?high standards?of customer service for all customers. Handle?complaints effectively and efficiently, escalating to?management?where they cannot be resolved at a local level.

About You



To be considered for this role, you will need:

To ideally be educated to GCSE?level?or equivalent but not essential. To ideally?to?have a?proven?track record?in?retail. To have previous?experience in charity sector or commercial sector is desirable. A basic understanding of Microsoft Office programs?including Outlook,?Word?and Excel. To be organised with good time management skills. To have the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines. To have good communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach.
