The Role

The Supervisor of works is responsible for supporting the Foreman and GM around supervising the on site Engineering team. This includes managing the Engineering team on all planned and reactive maintenance needs on site, ensuring the equipment needed is available and ensuring that downtime is kept to minimum. The Supervisor of works is also responsible for supporting all engineering aspects of the project work that comes into Penzance Dry Dock.

Knowledge Skills and Experiences

Whilst the following is desired you may be a machinist and/or fabricator welder looking to step up to a Supervisor of works role, and can demonstrate a keen high learning curve with some supervisory experience.

Knowledge

Qualified engineer with proven experience in a supervisory role.

The ability to prepare and manage a preventative maintenance plan and to support projects coming into the Dry Dock.

Skills

Engineering skills (preferably mechanical and electrical with welding skills)

People management skills

Experience

A minimum of 5 years' experience in a supervisory role in a busy operational environment.

Qualifications

Qualified engineer with proven supervisory experience

Able to prioritise and manage the Engineering workload on site

A strong focus on health and safety to ensure our operations are, and remain, safe at all times

Outputs

Working alongside the Foreman and/or GM to ensure that projects are completed in full and on time as directed by the foreman and/or GM. Taking instruction from the Foreman and/or GM.

Site maintenance is kept up to date

Equipment is serviced as frequently as is needed

Interactions

The Supervisor of works has a key role to play in supporting the Foreman and ensuring the site is productive and profitable.

The Supervisor of works interacts with all employees, and subcontractors on site and, as such, needs to act professionally at all times.
