Westbourne Care Home is a small victorian-built facility dedicated to providing exceptional care for residents over the age of sixty-five. Overview
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Supper Cook to join our culinary team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, delicious evening meals that meet high standards of food safety and quality. Your culinary expertise will help create enjoyable dining experiences that promote well-being and satisfaction among our residents.
The majority of the food for supper time is cooked during the day and requires heating and serving, there will be food that you will be preparing ie cheese on toast, etc
The hours of work are 4pm to 6:30pm four shifts per week and working every other weekend.
Responsibilities
Prepare and cook evening meals according to planned menus, ensuring consistency and quality in every dish
Handle food preparation tasks such as chopping, portioning, and assembling ingredients with precision and care
Maintain strict adherence to food safety standards and proper food handling procedures at all times
Ensure all kitchen equipment is clean, well-maintained, and properly sanitized after use
Support the dietary department by contributing to meal service and ensuring timely delivery of meals to residents
Collaborate with team members to uphold high standards of cleanliness, organization, and efficiency in the kitchen
Requirements
Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or a similar culinary role within the food industry or restaurant environment
Strong knowledge of food safety protocols and proper food handling techniques
Experience with menu planning and meal preparation tailored to dietary requirements
Excellent knife skills and proficiency in basic cooking methods
Prior dietary aide or dietary department experience is highly desirable
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen setting while maintaining attention to detail
Enthusiasm for delivering exceptional food service that enhances residents' dining experience
