Job Description

Overview:
Working within the technical team responsible for management of all raw materials and packaging including specifications, risk assessment, certification, and the monitoring and auditing of suppliers and goat farms. Working closely with NPD to assess potential new materials against internal and customer requirements including safety, legality, welfare and sustainability. Part of the internal auditing team for the BRCGS standard, customer standards & codes of practise. To assist the team during external audits and present supplier approval.

  • Review and approval of raw materials at concept, seeing through to launch in the factory.
  • Maintain the raw material database and keep documents up to date.
  • Writing QAS for relevant raw materials.
  • Creating QC Hold instructions on internal SAP system for relevant higher risk raw materials.
  • Integrity risk assessment and VACCP on all food and packaging raw materials.
  • Monitoring and approval of new and current suppliers.
  • Primary contact for day to day technical queries for raw materials and suppliers.
  • Review completion and response of suppler non-conformances, chase and challenge where appropriate.
  • Auditing sites of food and packaging suppliers
  • Audit goat farms and provide technical support where needed.
  • Member of the HACCP, VACCP & TACCP team representing raw materials and technical compliance.
  • Supply chain monitoring and traceability of raw materials back to supplier and forward to customer.
  • Internal auditing of site and systems in Blaenavon and Abergavenny against BRCGS and customer standards & codes of practice.
  • Keeping up to date with scientific information, changes in policy and customer standards regarding supplier approval and raw materials.
  • Assisting the technical team during external audits and presenting on supplier approval.
Skills / Expertise
Essential
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience within the Food Industry
  • Computer literate with working knowledge of computer applications / Microsoft Office
  • Initiative and time management
  • Detail orientated and passionate about food safety and compliance
  • Flexibility to travel to supplier sites in UK and abroad.
Desirable
  • Experience within technical in food manufacturing
  • Knowledge of BRCGS standard and retailer requirements
  • Knowledge of UK/EU regulatory frameworks
  • Food Safety level 3 and HACCP level 3
  • TACCP & VACCP training
