The job holder champions the Supplier Quality Assurance program for their appointed supplier portfolio.

They drive positive change through frequent collaboration and communication with suppliers to help ensure their adherence to specifications, through a process of continuous improvement and total process quality management.

The SQE works to assess and ensure that suppliers properly develop and implement quality and food safety programs and control plans to help ensure that materials sourced by Lavazza Professional are fit for purpose and supplied in adherence to developed specifications. He/she is also an avid trouble-shooter, who is well-adapted to deploying problem-solving tactics to achieve a desired state or level of improvement, especially in accordance with non-conformance management process.

The job holder represents a vital contribution as a technical arm within the Procurement function. They function both as an individual contributor and as part of a broader team during projects involving material supply, and must therefore present as both a self-starter/motivator and a team player.

You will be responsible for:



Continuously implement, operate, sustain, and improve the Supplier Quality Assurance Program for the machines, technology and external manufacturers in line with the relevant framework and principles conveyed within the Lavazza Professional sourcing standard. Performs supplier site audits (supplier risk assessments) and ensure completion of identified corrective actions. Proactively anticipate and identify Food Safety and Quality risks in the supply chain and suggests means of eliminating or reducing these risks to an acceptable level. Monitor, analyse and report all Supplier Quality Assurance and material-related metrics for suppliers and feed into the buying function's continuous supplier performance management program, including internal and external supplier reviews. Ensure documentation of any supplier-related controls and/or hazards are maintained in the material/product risk assessment. Assess effectiveness of supplier's product quality control plan ensuring sustained effective control of relevant hazards and compliance to specifications. Engage adjacent functions (Q&FS, Product Assurance, Development, etc.) to ensure holistic representation of hazards and controls within the risk assessment. Champion and continuously improve supplier-related non-conformance management process, with emphasis on striving for excellence in true root cause analysis / effective verification executed by suppliers. Ensuring the success of the non-conformance management process through timely and precise communication with suppliers and internal stakeholders. When pertinent, appropriately engage/adhere to the customer/consumer complaint investigation process with suppliers to ensure prompt and thorough resolution. Through active participation in project teams, support Lavazza Professional business initiatives associated with innovation/new product development, current products, and COGS (SAVE), relative to the consumables supply chain. Supports regional & global efforts to drive the Lavazza Professional Supplier Quality Assurance program world class, through participation in cross-functional and global working teams, where appropriate. (i.e. communities of practice, standard development, training & capability development, etc).

The successful candidate will:

Be degree qualified in Material Science, Engineering or related technical field, or equivalent. Will have 3+ years experience in a technical area within R&D product development, quality assurance, laboratory management, manufacturing, or engineering. Hold a Current Lead Auditor Certification (i.e. GFSI, ISO 9001, etc) - desirable but not essential Have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Essential command of food safety / food processing. Essential command of applicable regulations in relevant markets. Advanced knowledge of Quality Management processes, including: Auditing / Lead Auditing Validation / Verification APQP/PPAP Process Improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean Principles, etc.) Statistical Process Control Root cause analysis, Failure Modes Effects Analysis Corrective and preventive action Proficient with necessary software systems (i.e. Sharepoint, QSW etc.)
You must be willing to travel in the UK and internationally.
