Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Supply Chain Director to lead and optimise end to end supply operations within my clients industry. This role is based in Manchester and requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in supply chain management.
The Supply Chain Director will lead the end-to-end design, optimisation, and performance of the Marketplace supply chain.
This role is responsible for developing and executing a scalable supply chain strategy that enables our digital marketplace to deliver exceptional customer experience, supplier efficiency, and commercial performance.You will oversee all supplier relationships, logistics partnerships, and product category performance, ensuring the right suppliers, products, and processes are in place to support rapid growth across the platform.This is a key strategic leadership role, requiring strong digital and commercial capability, hands-on operational understanding, and experience managing supply networks within a marketplace or multi-supplier model.Strategy and Leadership

  • Define and deliver the supply chain strategy, aligning with business growth objectives.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team responsible for supplier management, logistics, and fulfilment operations.
  • Build scalable processes and frameworks that support marketplace growth and digital enablement.
  • Drive sustainability and ethical sourcing practices across the supply base, in line with ESG objectives.
Supplier Management
  • Own the end-to-end supplier lifecycle: onboarding, assessment, compliance, and performance management.
  • Establish clear service-level agreements (SLAs) and KPIs with suppliers to ensure reliability, quality, and competitive pricing.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with key suppliers and partners to deliver innovation and continuous improvement.
Digital Enablement and Optimisation
  • Work with Product, Data, and Operations teams to enhance supply chain visibility and automation within the marketplace platform.
  • Lead initiatives to improve forecasting, availability, and pricing accuracy using data insights and analytics.
  • Ensure digital integrations between suppliers, logistics, and the platform are effective and scalable.
Commercial and Operational Performance
  • Monitor supply chain efficiency and implement cost optimisation strategies.
  • Oversee category performance and supply chain resilience to maintain customer satisfaction and margin targets.
  • Support sales and commercial teams by ensuring supply capability aligns with customer and market demand.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (Product, Sales, Marketing, Customer Experience) to align operational capabilities with commercial goals.
  • Represent the supply chain function at leadership level, contributing to strategic decision-making.
  • Communicate performance, risks, and opportunities clearly to executive stakeholders.

Experience and Knowledge
  • Significant experience in a senior supply chain, operations, or procurement leadership role.
  • Proven track record in a digital, marketplace, or platform-led environment (B2B or B2C).
  • Strong knowledge of supplier management, fulfilment operations, and logistics optimisation.
  • Experience managing multi-supplier, multi-category environments, ideally in equipment, materials, or construction-related sectors.
  • Skilled in using data and technology to drive efficiency, transparency, and customer value.
  • Experience leading transformation or digital enablement within a supply chain function.
