The Role





Reporting to the Operations Director, as Supply Chain Manager, you will be responsible for the operational performance of Supply Chain department, developing, implementing and maintaining best-practice processes.



You will support the development of the Supply Chain strategy, working closely with all internal and external stakeholders to develop and operate a Supply Chain network capable of meeting Motion Applied objectives.



You will lead and optimize the end-to-end supply chain function, ensuring operational excellence, cost efficiency, and service reliability across procurement and stores. This role will drive strategic initiatives to support business growth, resilience, and sustainability.



Key responsibilities





Develop and implement supply chain strategies aligned with business goals Lead the Procurement and Stores teams overseeing the sourcing of goods and services, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring efficient inventory. Making sure the company buys the right goods and services at the right price, quality, and time. Ensure stock levels are well-managed--enough to meet demand without overstocking, which ties up cash Identifying skill gaps and arranging relevant training. Set clear goals and expectations. Encouraging collaboration and continuous improvement. Succession planning and talent retention Build strong relationships with suppliers to ensure quality, reliability, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities include: + Selecting and onboarding suppliers aligned with business goals.
+ Monitoring performance using KPIs (e.g., quality, delivery, cost).
+ Driving improvements through collaboration, training, and innovation.
+ Managing risks and ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.
+ Negotiating contracts and maintaining strategic partnership
+ Identify supply chain risks and develop mitigation strategies
+ Use multiple suppliers for critical components to avoid dependency. + Regularly assess supplier performance and compliance.
+ Secure pricing and availability through strategic agreements
+ Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies; generate reports and KPIs for senior management

Person Specification - Knowledge and skills





Proven experience in a senior supply chain leadership role, ideally within manufacturing or industrial sector Strong understanding of S&OP, ERP systems and supply chain analytics Demonstrable Leadership skills Strong Supply Chain experience in multiple environments, knows what good looks like End to End Supply Chain Operations professional, experience with suppliers, warehousing, logistics, planning Proven ability in Operations and Supply Chain Experience working in a fast-paced environment Capable of managing Goods In and Out and logistics Experience leading digital supply chain initiatives (e.g. automation, AI-driven planning) Demonstrated ability to manage and develop teams Collaborative team player Exposure to sustainability and ESG practices in supply chain operations



Specific aptitudes / skills





Educated to Degree level preferred Professional Supply Chain qualification / accreditation preferred Strong IT skills: Word/PowerPoint/Excel/Outlook
