We are seeking a

dedicated SEND Support Assistant

to join our committed team at a specialist SEND school. This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with pupils who require additional support to access learning and develop life skills.


As a

SEND Support Assistant

, you will:


Work under the guidance of teaching staff and therapists to support pupils with a range of SEND, including autism, speech and language needs, SEMH, physical disabilities, and complex learning difficulties. Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual learning and care plans. Support pupils with communication, sensory regulation, personal care, and engagement in learning activities. Help create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive. Be an essential part of a multi-disciplinary team focused on the wellbeing and progress of each pupil.

We Welcome Applicants With:

Experience in:

+ SEND support or mainstream classroom assistant roles
+ Youth work, social care, early years, or mental health support
+ Residential care, nursing, or community outreach work
+ Supporting children or adults with high needs or disabilities

Transferable Job Titles May Include:

+ Learning Support Assistant (LSA)
+ Care Assistant / Support Worker
+ Youth Support Worker
+ Behaviour Mentor

Essential Skills & Qualities

- Empathy, patience, and resilience
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to follow instructions and implement strategies
- Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality
- Willingness to learn and adapt to the needs of each pupil

Desirable but not essential:

- Experience in a SEND or education setting
- Knowledge of Makaton, PECs, or other communication aids
- Training in Team Teach, Moving & Handling, or personal care support
