As a support assistant you will bring to the role:


A high level of ability in the use of the MS Office packages and a willingness to learn additional bespoke software A willingness to work flexibly as part of a team to support the ambitions and aspirations of the service A commitment to supporting the service in the teaching and learning of music and an interest in developing your own understanding of the importance of music to modern society, both culturally and in education

About the role

As a support assistant in the ArtForms team you use your own skills and experience to support office colleagues and the wider teaching team, assisting us to develop and adopt new systems and processes both in house and as provided by the wider council.


The role is integral to supporting our teaching offer to Leeds schools and academies; ArtForms has a relationship with the majority of educational settings in Leeds and the effectiveness of our admin team is an important part of the relationships we build with those settings.


The role is primarily

office based

as part of our support to teaching colleagues requires us to have an open and staffed office. This time role is mirrored by a colleague already in post and so the ability to communicate clearly about a shared work load will be essential

Job purpose:

ArtForms (Music) is the music tuition service of the council, based within Children and Families team. The service delivers music tuition in a variety of formats and locations and we have a traded relationship with the majority of school settings in Leeds.


Our administrative function provides support to service management and our team of peripatetic teaching staff working in Leeds schools, academies and music centres, as well as working closely with the school settings we provide tuition to. ArtForms also manages part of a substantial centrally funded budget through West Yorkshire Music Hub (WYMH), a body of which we are a lead partner.


Our staff use a range of computer programmes and systems to support the work of the service and interact with customers and colleagues throughout school sites and the wider council.

Responsibilities:

Working with high levels of accuracy for tasks such as checking documents and recording numerical and alphabetical information. Identify problems and areas for improvement and offer solutions. Supporting staff Use own initiative and judgement where appropriate, providing outcomes and solutions for customers from a range of options. Work on your own, manage your own workload and use your initiative to adhere to time scales and deadlines. Ability and experience to carry out administrative duties including use of the full range if MS Office software, use of other software as appropriate including council specific systems (with training), understanding of diary management and arranging meetings. Ability to analyse and collate data and use it to produce reports. Willing to abide by the Council Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety Policies. Willing to actively participate in training and development activities to ensure up to date knowledge, skills and continuous professional development.

Qualifications
