The Key roles of the position would be to
To be an effective member of a Care Team with a Care Home for Adults aged 30 - 65 with mental health problems.
To provide physical and psychological care to residents in accordance with the specified care plan.
To carry out duties as designated by the person in charge.
To accurately record resident information.
To provide support to relatives/carers.
Duties include:
Providing the necessary physical care to residents to help them complete daily living activities i.e. personal hygiene, feeding, diet and fluid intake, clothing and laundry, personal environment, elimination, maintaining rest and sleep and activity, physical observations.
Attending to the emotional and social needs of the residents including talking with and listening to residents and encouraging them to participate in the home's activities.
Maintaining a clean and healthy living and working environment by bed-making, taking care of personal linen and clothing, cleaning tables, processing of foul linen e.g. dealing with incontinence products, emptying and cleaning commodes; other cleaning duties as required.
Assisting clients with meals and feeding where necessary, cleaning tables, transport of meals and beverages to dining areas as required.
Caring for the sick including the terminally ill.
Involvements where appropriate in resident's reviews in order to contribute in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluating care.
General observation and feedback to the management of the resident's social, emotional and physical progress and/or deterioration (including completion of residents' daily diary).
Using the agreed procedure reporting verbally or in writing any defects in equipment to the manager or senior on duty.
Being aware of and working to the principles of appropriate legislation and regulations and the standards as expected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the independent regulator of all health and adult social care in England.
Acting in a manner to respect the customs, individuality, values, sexuality and spiritual beliefs, activity, supporting the individual to fulfil these.
Ensuring that any information related to residents or other personal safety is communicated immediately to supervisors
Co-ordinating and participating in planned recreational activities, and reporting to management on progress.
Maintaining kitchen hygiene book and making sure opening and closing checks are carried out on each shift.
Preparing and administering medication, reporting shortages/errors to management.
Creating and maintaining professional supportive relationships with all members of staff and with other professionals and agencies to enhance recovery or care.
Assisting Deputy Manager in undertaking prescribed physical observations as follows: temperature, pulse, respirations, blood sugars, finger pricker, urinalysis, weight and height.
Being responsible for calling out of hours GP when necessary, completing and sending a statutory notification to the Care Quality Commission where appropriate.
