Job Purpose
Reporting to a Works Controller (LV Cables) and is responsible for assisting senior staff in ensuring that the Cables Assets are maintained and delivered into service in a safe and timely manner. In addition to this, is to support other London Underground and wider TfL business units whenever instructed to by their Line Manager.
Key Safety Accountabilities
The job holder must be committed to LUL's General Safety Policy statement and the Company's safety programme and be aware of his/her contribution to the programme, including the requirement to monitor safety performance and compliance with the systems established to assist in maintaining high safety standards.
The jobholder must be familiar with the safety legislation that is relevant to his/her post and comply with the necessary statutory requirements.
These will include the Health & Safety at Work Act, Fire Precautions Act 1971 and associated regulations.
Skills, Experience, Knowledge
Skills
Good interpersonal, numerical and written skills. (Essential)
Experience
Up to 1 years experience in HV/LV Cables maintenance and installation. (Desirable)
Knowledge
NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Engineering/Technical discipline. (Essential)
Working knowledge of DC (Traction and Non-Traction) and LV & HV AC power systems. (Desirable)
Main Duties
Gather information
Report lack of information to relevant persons
Assemble tools, equipment and materials
Check tools, equipment and materials for fitness for purpose.
Deal promptly and effectively with problems within his/her control.
Report to others deviations which can not be solved
Follow the correct process/operations for the allocated task
Establish and maintain communication with the relevant persons
Take action to rectify the defective asset.
Complete documentation in accordance with company procedures
Ensure the site is secure
Licences:
LUCAS Card or equivalent
Substation Access
Prescribed Track Certification
Site Person in Charge
Protecting Workers on the Track
Holds prescribed skills training and safety courses
