We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to provide high-quality care to individuals in various settings, including assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and private homes. The ideal candidate will have experience in patient care and a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for those they support. This role involves assisting clients with daily activities, ensuring their safety and comfort, and promoting independence.
Duties
Provide personal care and support to clients, including assistance with bathing, dressing, and grooming.
Assist with medication administration as per care plans and guidelines.
Support clients with meal preparation and ensure proper nutrition is maintained.
Engage clients in meaningful activities to promote mental and emotional well-being.
Implement behaviour management strategies as needed to support clients with specific needs.
Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, including light housekeeping tasks.
Document client progress and report any changes in health or behaviour to the appropriate personnel.
Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the quality of life for clients.
Assist with mobility and heavy lifting when necessary, ensuring client safety at all times.
Skills
Experience in assisted living, nursing home settings, or similar environments is essential.
Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, dementia care, hospice care, and senior care practices is highly desirable.
Strong caregiving skills with a focus on patient care and compassion.
Ability to perform first aid when required; certification is an advantage.
Valid driving licence preferred for those providing home care services.
Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
Ability to manage challenging behaviours with patience and understanding.
