Job Summary


We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team.

JOB PURPOSE



To provide high quality care to all residents, optimising their independence and providing opportunities for them.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES - CARE



To provide care for residents as required while supporting optimal independence. Document clearly and accurately in the resident's care plans. Provide emotional and practical support to service users. Help service users meet their personal care needs sensitively and appropriately to a high standard, including personal hygiene, assistance with laundry, and preparing light meals and drinks. Support and participate in resident's social and recreational activities in line with individual care plans, including day trips and holidays. Facilitate and support residents in decision making. Promote choice and involvement. Consistently apply non-aversive strategies developed in response to challenging behaviours. Ensure all resident's medical needs are met in partnership with them and records completed accurately. Following training and assessment administer medication in accordance with Company policies and procedures, Demonstrate a safe understanding of what to do in the case of a medical emergency, Ensure that Clients' personal property and clothing is maintained to a high standard and report any requirements to the Registered Manager. Be aware of and understand all aspects of potential abuse ensuring that the resident's safety and well-being is always upheld. Always maintain a professional and appropriate care worker / resident relationship. Encourage and enable Residents to maintain acceptable levels of personal and environmental hygiene. Fully understand the Regulation of Quality and Improvement Authority standards and ensure that you always adhere to them.

MARKETING, TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT



1. Actively market CWC Group by promoting a positive personal / professional profile within the local community always ensuring the good reputation of CWC Group.

2. Maintain professional knowledge and competence.

3. Attend mandatory training days/courses, on or off site, as and when required.

4. Participate in relevant training to achieve required qualifications.

HEALTH & SAFETY



Report immediately to the Registered Manager any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a Resident, colleague, self or other. Understand and implement CWC Group policies on Fire, Emergency procedures and Health and Safety. Report to the Registered Manager immediately any faulty equipment, furniture, or potential hazard. In the absence of the Registered manager report to the Team Leader. At all times promote and maintain safe working practices including the security of the building. Take responsibility for ensuring all equipment is clean and well always maintained.

GENERAL



Maintain confidentiality of all information always gained in the course of your work. Participate in rotas, which may include day, evening, weekend and Bank Holiday working and night-time duties at night. Be available to respond to additional work to cover short notice absence of other colleagues and vacancies. Notify the Registered manager as soon as possible of your inability to report for work, informing them of the nature of absence and expected date of return. Participate in "return to work interviews" following a period of absence as per policy. Carry out any other tasks that may be reasonably assigned to you.

Essential



Qualifications



Good General education.

Skills / Ability



Ability to work on own initiative, self-motivated. Sound communication. Comprehensive command of the English language both written and spoken. Honesty and integrity. Reliability and trustworthiness. Clear understanding of the importance of confidentiality and how to apply it.

Knowledge & Experience



Evidence of working with adults with care needs. Understanding of types of potential abuse of vulnerable adults.

Other



Commitment to training and development. Flexible in approach to working. Ability to go on holiday with residents as required. Satisfactory Access N.I. Check. Sound references without any concerns. Commitment to undertake MAPPA training and complete successfully. Sound health - e.g., no more than 4 episodes of sickness within last 12 month period unless clearly explained. Requirement to work weekends and bank holidays

Desirable



NVQ level 2 in care. Evidence of flexible and innovative way of working. Understanding of the Regulation for Quality Improvement Authority. Evidence of working with adults with learning disabilities Previous experience of interpreting and delivering care using care plans. Full and clean driving licence and ability to drive mobility car if required.
