Job Description

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Support Worker to join our dedicated team based in Brecon. In this pivotal role you will be assisting and encouraging people in supported living to become integrated members of their local community, promoting physical and social participation.



A full UK driving licence is essential for this role.





mirus is a not-for-profit charitable organisation, working in partnership with the people they support, their families and other partners, to deliver high quality, person-centred support services for people with a disability. We have been supporting people in Wales for over 35 years and currently support over 350 people in ten different local authority areas.



We are looking for someone to join our team with a kind and caring personality, whilst also being ambitious and strong willed to motivate those we support. Over the four services, we support with a range of capabilities, helping people we support to do their shopping, assisting to make and attend appointments, helping them to get ready for work and helping them with making meals.
We support people who have a good level of independence, and try to promote this in all aspects of their life as we support their day to day routines, health and development, and their independence when being out in the community.
People wishing to be successful with this role need to show a good level of working independently, as well as working with team members. Be able to help working in the homes of the people we support, as well as 1 to 1 support when they are out in the community or at social events, such as Bingo. There is also a level of religious support, with staff assisting the people we support to attend church.


What will you be doing?




As a Support Worker you will develop, implement, and review a range of individual support plans to enable the person that you will support to lead a fulfilling life. You will provide support with a range of tasks which may include household and domestic tasks, shopping, diet/food preparation, personal care, personal hygiene, dressing and personal appearance. As a Support worker we will support you in studying towards your QCF Level 2 Health and Social Care, which is completely funded by mirus. You will work alongside other professionals such as care managers, community nurses and occupational therapists to deliver high quality support.
