We are looking for a compassionate and committed Children Support Worker with British Sign Language (BSL) expertise to join our team. In this role, you will provide emotional, social, and practical support to children and young people, including those who are Deaf or have hearing impairments, helping them to feel safe, valued, and empowered. Your primary focus will be on promoting their wellbeing, supporting their development, and encouraging positive engagement in education, recreational activities, and community life. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, patience, proficiency in British Sign Language, and a genuine interest in making a difference in children's lives.
Responsibilities
Provide consistent emotional and social support to children and young people in line with their individual support plans.
Encourage participation in educational, recreational, and social activities that build confidence and independence.
Promote positive behaviour and act as a role model, fostering trust and respect.
Work closely with families, schools, and professionals to ensure continuity of support and safeguarding.
Keep accurate records of progress, incidents, and daily activities in line with organisational policies.
Create and maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for children and young people.
Participate in regular training and team meetings to develop skills and stay informed on best practices.
Support children in building life skills such as communication, problem-solving, and decision-making.
Qualifications
Knowledge of safeguarding practices and child development is an advantage.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage positively with children and families.
Basic IT skills for recording and reporting purposes.
A valid driving licence is preferred for roles that involve travel.
A caring and resilient nature, with a genuine passion for supporting children to achieve their potential.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
