Support Worker - Colne, Lancashire

Halcyon Care North West is proud to partner with a lovely dementia care home in Colne, providing residential, dementia, and short-stay care for up to 84 residents. We are looking for compassionate and dedicated Support Workers to join our friendly team and help create a warm, welcoming community where residents thrive.

About the Home:

Set on the outskirts of Colne, the home is a modern, purpose-built facility designed with accessibility and comfort in mind. Wide corridors, lifts to all floors, and spacious en-suite bedrooms ensure residents' safety and ease of movement. The home features beautiful landscaped gardens, including patio areas and raised beds, providing a calming outdoor space. Inside, residents enjoy a variety of amenities such as a cafe, hair salon, lounges, and a peaceful top-floor nature-inspired quiet zone.

The home offers a vibrant activities programme including music therapy, art workshops, outings, and themed events, fostering a sense of community and belonging. Dining is sociable, with freshly prepared meals, themed food days, and the famous "Bake Off" competitions.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver person-centred care and support to residents, respecting their dignity and independence. Assist with personal care, medication, mobility, and daily routines. Support residents with activities and encourage engagement to promote mental and physical well-being. Observe and record changes in residents' health and behaviour, reporting to senior staff. Maintain a safe and clean environment, adhering to health and safety policies. Foster positive relationships with residents, families, and external healthcare professionals. Participate in the home's activities and events to enhance residents' quality of life. Contribute to the development and review of care plans. Support new staff and volunteers, sharing your knowledge and experience. Uphold confidentiality and dignity in all aspects of work.
What We Are Looking For:

Minimum of 6 months experience working in the UK care industry. Care Certificates or equivalent qualification (or willingness to train). DBS check clearance. Full UK driving license is preferable but not essential. Ability to work on a rota system, including days, evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins if required. Compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic attitude. Good communication skills and a team-player mentality. Resilience and the ability to adapt to the needs of individuals with dementia. Basic IT skills for documentation and communication. Willingness to learn and develop your skills further.
Key Skills & Attributes:

Passion for caring for older people and those with dementia. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong observational skills and attention to detail. Flexibility to work on a rota system. Reliable, respectful, and empathetic approach. Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and health & safety protocols.
