We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Therapy Support Worker to join our team. We are a small business working primarily with young people with learning disabilities and autism who are no longer in education.
The ideal candidate will provide essential assistance to individuals in need of support, particularly those with learning disabilities, autism, ADHD and mental health conditions. This role requires a strong understanding of the local area as well as surrounding areas and cities (Newcastle and Durham). The focus of our service is providing therapeutic interventions, increasing skills of individuals we support as well as those we employ . Candidates that would like a future in psychology, occupational therapy or speech and language therapy with specialist interests in Autism, learning disabilities and mental health will be supported in the role through supervision and appraisal.
Duties
Assist clients with daily living activities and accessing the community to engage in a wide range of activities and employment opportunities.
Provide meal preparation and ensure clients receive proper nutrition.
deliver theraputic intervention.
Offer companionship and emotional support to enhance the quality of life for clients.
Conduct light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe environment for clients.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individual care plans.
Maintain accurate records of care activities and report any concerns to the appropriate personnel.
Sleeping in during the night would be required for at least 1-2 nights per week.
Skills
Experience in learning disability and mental health environments is highly desirable.
An interest in gaming and technology is highly desirable
A fun entertaing character is essential as humour and laughter can resolve many conflicts but also provide positive reinforcement, encouragement and motivation.
A good understanding of therapy models for our client group.
Good IT Skills.
Good interpersonal skills.
Ability to drive and transport clients as needed.
Proficient in meal preparation and nutrition .
Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on care and empathy.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with clients, families, and healthcare staff.
