Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Support Worker to provide dedicated care for a young adult with severe autism spectrum disorder. The individual is non-verbal and communicates through pictures and gestures, requiring consistent, structured support to promote independence, ensure safety, and enhance quality of life.

The successful candidate will work closely with the client's family and the Sterling Standard Care Group team, following a personalised care plan designed to maintain stability, familiarity, and daily routine.

Key Responsibilities



Provide daily personal care support, including prompting and assisting with washing, dressing, brushing teeth, and mealtime routines. Use visual aids, gestures, and hand-over-hand assistance to encourage participation and independence. Support the client in maintaining personal hygiene and appearance. Assist with morning routines, including preparing items for school or daily activities. Drive the client safely to and from school, ensuring consistent routines and safe transitions between home and school environments. Facilitate and supervise outdoor and recreational activities. Maintain a structured, calm, and consistent environment, following established non-verbal communication strategies. Support the family with aspects of household organisation related to the client's care (e.g., laundry, meal preparation). Adhere to health and safety and safeguarding standards at all times. Participate in regular care reviews with the family and care management team.

Essential Skills & Qualities



Experience supporting individuals with autism spectrum disorder or learning disabilities Strong understanding of non-verbal communication and sensory regulation Patient, empathetic, and calm approach Reliable, consistent, and structured in daily routines Full, clean UK driving licence and confidence driving short local routes Ability to collaborate effectively with family members and professional teams Commitment to person-centred care and promoting independence

Working Hours



Flexible working pattern, including school drop-off and pick-up times from Monday- Friday. Additional hours may be arranged according to care plan needs
Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From 13.45 per hour

Expected hours: 15 per week
