Positive Steps Care & Support Ltd is a passionate and dynamic organization dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of individuals with a range of support needs. We are currently looking for enthusiastic and experienced Support Workers to join our team and provide essential 2:1 support to a young man with non-verbal autism and OCD. This role will involve helping him access and engage with the community, as well as supporting him with various aspects of his daily living.
About the Role:
The role will require individuals who are passionate about providing tailored support and are committed to helping a young man thrive in the community. You will support him with his daily needs, encourage social interactions, and ensure he feels safe and comfortable during outings. Every day will bring new opportunities to make a positive impact, and you will work in a supportive, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 2:1 support to the client to assist with day-to-day duties, including personal care, meal preparation, and light cleaning tasks.
Support the client to access the community, including outings, social events, and recreational activities.
Assist with managing OCD symptoms, ensuring the client is calm, structured, and confident in various settings.
Work within Positive Steps Care & Support Ltd's guidelines, ensuring that the client's needs and preferences are respected.
Collaborate with other team members, family, and health professionals to provide consistent and high-quality support.
Requirements for the Position:
The ideal candidate will have:
A positive, enthusiastic, compassionate, and friendly approach to supporting others.
A minimum of 6 months experience in health and social care, with knowledge or experience of autism, OCD, and complex needs. However, transferable skills and personal experience are also valued.
A full clean driving license is required due to the locations of clients and outings.
Strong communication skills, especially when working with non-verbal individuals, and the ability to use creative methods for communication.
The ability to work well in a team and to follow established procedures while maintaining flexibility in approach.
