We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Support Workers to provide high-quality support for looked after young people aged 16 & 17. Key Responsibilities



Provide consistent, person-centred support to young people, recognising and responding to individual needs and experiences. Build positive, trusting relationships while maintaining professional boundaries. Create a homely, warm, and welcoming environment where young people feel safe and heard. Work a mixture of shifts which include mornings, afternoons, evening, sleep in nights and weekends (it is a four week rolling rota so you will know when you are working to plan around shifts) Support young people in developing practical skills, resilience, and confidence for independent living. Engage in positive activities and experiences with young people, contributing to a sense of fun and belonging. Be open and prepared to have tricky, emotive, and reflective conversations in a supportive and non-judgemental way, sharing information as part of the network around the young person. Record all information in an accurate and timely manager on our electronic system. Work with professionals from a plethora of agencies, including social workers, Police, Personal Advisors, Health, Emergency Services and so forth. Reflect on your own practice and participate in team reflective sessions and supervision. Work in line with organisational policies, procedures, and Ofsted regulations. Attend mandatory and developmental training sessions.

Criteria



GCSEs, A Levels or equivalent Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent - or willing to work towards this Compassionate, thoughtful, and emotionally resilient Ability to build trusting, respectful relationships with young people while maintaining appropriate boundaries Good sense of humour and ability to contribute to a warm, welcoming environment Committed to upholding values of equality, diversity, and inclusion Awareness of Ofsted regulations in supported accommodation settings Basic IT and record-keeping skills Understanding of how life experiences and trauma can impact young people's behaviour, emotions, and development Ability to work flexibly, including days, evenings, nights (sleep in), weekends, and bank holidays as required Willingness to undertake relevant training including safeguarding, first aid, and trauma awareness Understanding of trauma-informed practice and therapeutic approaches
