We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker / Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join our team at Widecombe Close, supporting individuals within our Havering schemes in Essex. As a Support Worker / HCA, you will work closely with residents, helping them maintain independence, ensuring their safety, and promoting their well-being in a supportive environment. Duties
Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
Monitor residents' health by taking vital signs and observing for any changes in condition
Provide medication administration as per care plans and ensure accurate documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations
Support residents with meal preparation, cooking, and ensuring nutritional needs are met
Implement personalized care plans to address individual needs related to dementia, Alzheimer's, autism, or other developmental disabilities
Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts and resident's to safely transfer residents
Conduct patient observation and monitoring to ensure safety and well-being at all times
Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning duties and infection control practices
Engage residents in social activities and community outings to promote social interaction and mental stimulation
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including social workers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care
Document all care activities accurately while respecting residents' privacy and confidentiality standards
Respond promptly to emergencies, including administering CPR or first aid when necessary
Support hospice or palliative care needs with compassion and sensitivity
Qualifications
Previous experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care environments is highly desirable
Certification in First Aid and CPR is preferred; ongoing training opportunities available for development
Knowledge of patient observation techniques, vital signs measurement, medication administration, and care planning processes
Experience working with people with developmental disabilities, dementia, Alzheimer's disease or autism spectrum disorder is advantageous
Ability to lift heavy objects safely using equipment such as Hoyer lifts; physical stamina required for long shifts
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members
Understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and confidentiality
Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for residents
Flexibility to work various shifts including mornings, evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed
