KIDS is a national charity which has been supporting disabled children, young people and their families since 1970.

We work with children, from birth through to 25 years. Each year we support over 11,800 disabled children and work with about 60 Local Authorities across England.

About The Role

Are you a person who really wants to make a difference to people\'s lives?
If you are able to support someone to explore their interests, to promote their independence and ensure they have an active fun time; then this may be the job for you.

We are currently looking for someone to provide short breaks for disabled children and young people in the local area.
Short breaks involve supporting a child or young person for a few hours usually on the weekend.
Short breaks are on a 1:1 basis and can occur in the local community or in a child or young person\'s home. Our breaks are designed around the child/ young person and their interests and hobbies. During a break you may take a child swimming, go to a local park, visit a museum or perhaps go to the shops. Breaks involve learning and developing skills: from handling money to using public transport.
Our short break work makes a difference to the lives of children and young people with a disability and for their families.

About You

We are looking for caring, enthusiastic individuals to support disabled children and young people on a 1-1 basis in the London Borough of Hounslow.

To be able to carry out this role we would expect you to have the following characteristics:

• A person centred approach
• Fun and active
• Committed
• Experience of working with disabled children is desirable but not essential.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the needs of disabled children and young people and a commitment to safeguarding.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work on your own and use initiative.
• Available to work regular evenings and weekends, dependent upon the support needs.
