SUPPORT WORKERS (No personal care)


37.5 HOURS PER WEEK | PERMANENT


Range from 12.21 - 12.71 Per Hour


Enhanced overtime rate from 13.73 - 14.29 Per Hour



Travelling to support visits will be paid at 0.45p per mile. Travelling to the office/other places of work and travelling with someone we support will be paid at 0.15p.



Shift patterns / Rota


At YLOH we aspire to provide for the needs of both the people we support and our staff. Our rotas are designed to accommodate those needs as far as practicable, and typically works as follows:

Rotas are published about 2 weeks in advance. There are 2 versions of the rotas - 1 for staff and 1 for the people we support. Both rotas are ratified by our leadership team prior to publication.

A full time YLOH workers' day is typically 7.5 hours with an allocated 30-minute break. Work may be required any day of the week including weekends but is usually Monday to Friday around the hours of 09:00-17:00 but may be sooner or later. Occasionally you may be required to work overtime, extending your shift beyond the usual 7.5 hours.

Main Responsibilities to include but are not limited to:



Our Support Worker roles, based in Ipswich and the surrounding area, require you hold a high level of integrity to be able to build and sustain trusting and professional relationships to help people address issues in their home and social lives, as well as providing support for their physical and emotional wellbeing.

Responsibilities and key attributes required



Using empathy, honesty, and respect, to establish a rapport with all people. Encourage participation with YLOH and the getting to know you process. Completing notes as required in a timely and professional manner in such a way that it promotes the persons' wellbeing and autonomy. Ensuring that all support visits are recorded accurately with the person at the end of each support visit. Each person we support is offered to collaborate in the note taking of their respective support visits. This is to encourage trust and ownership. All notes should be reflective of the persons needs and wellbeing. Supporting each person with their respective needs, this may involve but is not limited to; Responding appropriately to any situation of abuse and self-neglect, utilising the standards defined in Safeguarding, offering support and advice in a sensitive manner. Assisting people in maintaining a reasonable standard of health and safety in their accommodation and to promote awareness of these issues. Supporting people in making full use of their strengths and abilities, finding outlets for social, leisure and or work oriented activities. Overseeing and supporting people in managing their prescribed medication, appropriately, and following all relevant guidelines. We do not administer medication. generally implementing training and guidance with people regarding their issues and problems. Performing the role with integrity and professionalism as an employee with the knowledge that they represent YLOH, both in and out of work. To act as an advocate for people where appropriate, for things such as welfare rights issues by getting to know the person; using the three C's; being respectful in all interactions, especially when advocating on a person's behalf. Examples could include meetings with professionals / family; doctors' appointments; and in all documents including emails. Research and maintain awareness of a wide range of services and opportunities which may interest the people we are trying to help and support. This can be done with the person as part of Creative Enablement. Where appropriate, to assist people in selecting and accessing resources such as legal services; training; employment opportunities; leisure and educational services; and health services. Maintaining proper written documentation relating to people's records. Keeping all records up to date, ensuring that they are legible and comply with the Data Protection Act (2018). Submitting accurate forms as required by the appropriate deadlines e.g., timesheets, mileage and subsistence forms monthly. Duties may be reviewed from time to time, in accordance with the needs of the people who use our service and the requirements of the service.
