Safe Space Housing (SSH) is a supported accommodation provider committed to alleviating homelessness and its detrimental effects in the Leeds area. We understand that individuals experiencing homelessness often face personal challenges that lead to social exclusion and isolation.
We empower
vulnerable male adults
, specifically
male prison leavers
, to (re)integrate into mainstream society. Through the provision of safe, high-quality housing and targeted support, we help individuals develop the skills they need to lead positive, productive, and independent lives.
The Role
The Support Worker delivers
housing-related, person-centred support
to our residents. Your primary goal is to help service users maintain their accommodation, reduce risks, and progress toward independent living. You will act as a mentor and guide, ensuring our residents feel empowered to make positive changes.
Key Responsibilities
Support Delivery & Outcomes:
Deliver structured support in line with individual plans to help service users develop essential independent living skills.
Move-In & Orientation:
Manage the move-in process, including property tours, issuing keys, and introducing service users to key services in the local community.
Case Management:
Maintain accurate, timely support notes and ensure needs/risk assessments and support plans are always up to date.
Housing Support:
Ensure service users have active Leeds Housing Options accounts and are actively bidding for long-term housing.
Health & Safety:
Identify and manage risks, follow safeguarding procedures strictly, and report any maintenance or property issues to senior staff.
Financial Guidance:
Help service users understand their service charge responsibilities and budgeting needs.
Please note: This is not a care worker role and does not involve intimate or personal care.
Key Requirements
Driving:
You
MUST
be able to drive and have access to your own vehicle.
Experience:
A background or strong interest in supporting vulnerable adults (mental health, substance misuse, or homelessness).
Knowledge:
Basic understanding of housing-related support, safeguarding, and the duty of care.
Resilience:
The ability to build rapport with empathy while maintaining firm professional boundaries.
Communication:
Strong verbal and written skills for effective record-keeping and teamwork.
Flexibility:
Ability to work on a rota basis to meet the needs of our service users.
